WIT welcomes eight highly skilled new members to its board

WIT is thrilled to announce the addition of eight exceptional new members to its board of directors for the 2027 fiscal year. These individuals bring a remarkable breadth of expertise — from federal and local policy making and legal affairs, to fundraising and strategic leadership — to their new roles, as well as a shared passion for WIT’s mission of sharing the joy and transformative power of improv with people throughout the DC region.

Of the eight incoming members, who will take up their duties on June 27, 2026, five have prior board or governance experience.

“I’m particularly excited to welcome such a highly skilled group of individuals to the board at such a pivotal time in our 28-year history,” said WIT’s Artistic and Executive Director Mark Chalfant in reference to WIT’s big move to the Northeast DC neighborhood of NoMa, where we are building — and continuing to raise funds for — a one-of-a-kind learning, training, and performance center. “Their expertise and diverse backgrounds are real assets at this critical juncture.”

Chalfant added that the new composition of the board is also more representative of the WIT community, which is made up of residents from DC and the surrounding metro area. “I’m delighted that this class brings us board members from Maryland, Virginia, and five of the District’s eight wards.” He added that he is “extremely grateful to those members, whose time on the board is coming to an end, for their service and commitment to WIT.”

Meet the new members:

Andi Sutter

Andi works with public health and social impact organizations to help make complicated data and systems a little more understandable and useful. A long-time improv fan, who mostly started out attending shows before beginning WIT’s curriculum in 2024, Andi has completed Levels 1 and 2 and plans to continue her improv learning journey. Outside of class, she’s usually attending WIT shows or seeking out improv performances while traveling, especially musical improv.

Caroline Wolverton

Caroline is a DC litigator with a federal regulatory focus and an amateur improviser. She’s excited to bring her energy and enthusiasm for the WIT community to board service and help advance WIT’s mission of feeding joy, fostering community, and sparking creativity. Caroline has taken WIT classes and a few workshops, competed in the Fighting Improv Smackdown Tournament (FIST), and dabbled in a handful of indie team performances with All Fun and Games.

Donald Dunn

Donald currently serves as Senior Philanthropic Advisor at Georgetown University, helping secure support for the University’s highest priorities. In 2015, he moved from Salt Lake City to Washington DC with his wife and two children to take on the role. His work helps fund scholarships, endowed chairs, academic initiatives, and groundbreaking research that expands opportunity and drives innovation. Donald first discovered improvisation at the age of 14 while watching a Second City Chicago performance in New York. Since then, he has put his theater and improv skills to work in fundraising and politics, two professions where “listening matters as much as speaking.” He has also completed Levels 1 and 2 of WIT’s curriculum.

Elizabeth Abraham

Elizabeth negotiates and awards multi-million and multi-billion dollar contracts for the US government. Her 15-year career has spanned multiple missions, including but not limited to: instrument builds for earth observing satellites, national and international fishery management, ultra high-speed network connectivity, and life-saving weather alerts to the general public. She is deeply committed to the impactful initiatives she encounters through her work and equally committed to the wonderful world of improvisation. After taking an improv class in fall 2024, she was immediately hooked. She is currently a student at WIT, made it to the second round of FIST 2026, and is looking forward to more stage time in the months and years to come. She’s grateful to WIT for all the fun and is very excited to pay it forward via board service.

Lamia Naji

With more than 15 years of professional experience, Lamia brings expertise in strategic communications, investor relations, and emerging markets investing that she gained through roles with major philanthropies, development finance institutions, and the Government of Canada. Her work has spanned Africa, Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa, with a focus on digital finance, technology, and infrastructure. A proud Canadian, Lamia holds a Master of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management from Carleton University. She first discovered improv while reading “Bossypants” by Tina Fey. She signed up for classes at The Second City in Toronto and has been exploring the world of improv and theater ever since, including at WIT.

Michael Randel

Michael is a change and leadership consultant who is always looking for ways to bring together the rational and the creative parts of ourselves at work. His upbringing in several countries gives him the distinction of having lived both north and south of the equator in four very different regions of the world. After some workplace experiences with improv (where it was used in team building sessions), Michael completed all five levels of WIT’s core curriculum in 2025. In addition to the showcase performances celebrating the end of each class, Michael has also participated in WIT’s annual Improvapalooza festival.

Monique Diop

Monique is a life long advocate for civic engagement and currently works for the DC government, where she focuses on public problem solving, information sharing, and helping residents understand the complexities of our local government. She studied Communications at West Virginia State College. While there, she was on the debate team, which she credits for helping her see both sides of any argument. Monique also served four consecutive elected terms as the Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) for the Bellevue area of DC, earning the continued trust and support of the community. Her journey with improv began in 2015 when she discovered WIT at a professional training workshop.  Later that year, she enrolled in her first WIT class at the Anacostia Arts Center. She has since completed multiple WIT classes and performed at venues including Project Create, the DC Public Library, and Source Theatre.

PJ Tabit

PJ Tabit is a principal economic policy analyst at The Conference Board and the co-founder and board chair of the Wiki Education Foundation, a $2.5 million nonprofit focused on knowledge equity and representation on Wikipedia. He previously held several positions at the Federal Reserve Board. PJ took his first WIT class in 2013 and WIT has been central to his DC life ever since — introducing him to lifelong
friends and, importantly, his wife whom he met in a Harold class (when he was on a Harold team in 2016)! He believes strongly in WIT’s mission and wants to give back to an organization that has meant so much to him.
