Donald Dunn

Donald first discovered improvisation at 14 while watching a Second City Chicago performance in New York City, and let’s just say it made an impression.

Since then, he has put his theater and improv skills to work in fundraising and politics, two professions where listening matters as much as speaking. He has also completed Levels 1 and 2 at WIT.

Donald currently serves as Senior Philanthropic Advisor at Georgetown University, helping secure support for the University’s highest priorities. In 2015, he moved from Salt Lake City to Washington DC with his wife and two children to take on the role. At Georgetown, Donald partners with alumni, parents, donors, faculty, and researchers to advance the university’s mission of educating the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. His work helps fund scholarships, endowed chairs, academic initiatives, and groundbreaking research that expands opportunity and drives innovation.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, Donald has built deep experience across higher education, government, and politics. He served in the White House Office of Political Affairs under President Clinton and later as Director of Marketing and Public Affairs for the US Trade and Development Agency. He also chaired the Utah Democratic Party and was the Democratic nominee for Congress in Utah’s 3rd District in 2000.

Donald is a member of Leadership Greater Washington’s Class of 2019. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family. He lives in Maryland with his wife and their mini Goldendoodle. They will become empty nesters in the fall of 2026.
