Dana Malone

Dana Malone is a proud New Jersey native who relocated to DC in 2008. She fell in love with improv when she enrolled in her first Washington Improv Theater class in 2011.

Prior to joining the The October Issue, Dana performed with former WIT Harold Team Breaker Breaker. She is currently a member of longtime indie teams Press Play and Sweater Kittens, and she has performed in the WIT production Improv Actually and with the WIT ensemble iMusical.

A graduate of WIT’s training program, Dana has also studied at The Center for Movement Theatre, The Second City, and The Shakespeare Theatre Company. She is an avid cheese lover who can’t say no to karaoke. Dana is director of WIT’s The October Issue.

Dana Malone dreams of circling up everyone in her life for a big ol' game of the improv warmup, Big Booty.

Dana believes that there is much personal growth to be gained in improv, and she loves seeing new students have “aha!” moments and embrace the craft. Her teaching emphasizes taking risks, gaining confidence and honoring the gifts of one’s fellow players. In addition to WIT, Dana’s theater and improv education has included training at The Center for Movement Theatre, The Second City and The Shakespeare Theatre Company.

Dana Malone has been enthusiastically learning, performing and/or teaching improv since 2011.

Dana brings a background in life and leadership coaching, helping clients get clear on their priorities and live more balanced, joyful lives. Dana is a skilled team builder and loves helping others discover opportunities through their challenges. She believes that when we play big, we get big results.

Dana has a decade of nonprofit experience as a fundraiser and event planner, having worked with executive directors, board members and industry leaders. She holds a BA in Culture and Communication from Ithaca College and a coaching certification from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). Dana is director of WIT’s The October Issue. She is currently a member of longtime indie teams Press Play and Sweater Kittens.
