Beat the Bot

Beat the Bot is a 1970’s-style improvised AI game show in which audiences attempt to determine the difference between genuine improv scenes and comedic scripts generated by Gordy – a sophisticated comedy language-learning model.

With a cast of DC’s sharpest improvisers, Beat the Bot serves as a Turing Test for comedy, exploring the boundaries between idea generation and creative inspiration. What does it say about our collective taste that media is formulaic enough to be generated by a robot? Can we control the destiny of art and media in the age of AI? Do we have what it takes to Beat the Bot?

Cast: Abigail Fu, Cale Harper, Carly Kraybill, Catherine Mullins, Chris Orvin, Devin Hiett, Eddison Wilkinson, Erick Acuña, Eva Lewis, Jonah Gordon, Katie Munn, Kristina Martinez, Lauren Gabel, Macey Schiff, Nora Dell, Stephanie Wester, Timothy Montgomery

Created and directed by Cale Harper and Nora Dell.
