Stephanie Rae

Stephanie Rae is an internationally touring improviser and freestyle rapper who has been hugged and complimented by Beyoncé. She smelled like wealth.

Stephanie is the Founder and Creative Director of the Black Improv Alliance and has taught and performed improv from Louisiana to Liverpool. She has performed with Baby Wants Candy, North Coast, Free Daps, Wakanda vs. Everybody, Black Lady Improv, You Better Call Tyrone, and the Tony Award-winning Freestyle Love Supreme. Stephanie has also designed and facilitated applied improv workshops for organizations including YouTube, Nike, S.C. Johnson, and New York Comic Con and directs the Ocean State Black & Funny Improv Festival. She began her formal improv career at WIT in 2009 and is excited to be back!

Stephanie studied the psychology of Black identity at Howard University, earned a law degree from Georgetown, and somehow still decided improv was the stable career choice. She created a global scholarship program that benefitted hundreds of BIPOC improvisers and once won an X-Men costume contest by accident. She loves musical improv, storytelling, nerd culture, karaoke, and aggressively rooting for fictional couples. Favorite soup: broccoli and cheese.
