Fun and Games: WIT’s summer run promises laughs and adventure! (Media Advisory)
Washington DC, June 4, 2025 — Washington Improv Theater (WIT) will kick-off its six-week, summer run on Friday, June 13 under the marquee WIT Presents: Fun and Games, featuring Table Talk: An Improvised Tale of Adventure as its tentpole production.
WIT is the District’s top spot for hilarious improv comedy and there will be plenty of laughs on-tap during Table Talk — the theater’s latest Directors’ Series show, which is inspired by the fun and fantasy of Table Top Role Playing Games (TTRPGs), such as Dungeons & Dragons™, and explores the nature of friendship, the paths we take in life, and the importance of following your heart.
FUN, FANTASY, AND IDENTITY
Table Talk is the brainchild of Director Hannah Piper for whom bringing the show to-life has been a deeply personal project rooted in her love for table top games, passion for improv, and lived experience as a Transgender woman.
“The show explores the moments of unexpected meaning that happen in between jokes and laughter,” says Piper. “No two shows will be the same, but audiences can expect a raucous good time, underscored by the question, ‘Why do we play games together?’”

Table Talk’s Assistant Director is Amber Bellsdale with technical direction by James Nugent.
QUEER VARIETY CAVALCADE (QVC)
WIT’s quarterly celebration of Queer comedy and culture, featuring a variety of performance disciplines, is back! This summer’s show will pay tribute to public broadcasting and include appearances by Drag Resistance Leader Tara Hoot, Queer Latine Storyteller Adrian Gaston Garcia, and Burlesque Cosplayer Orion St. Michael.
Important note: QVC is NOT a kid’s show. It explores topics and themes that are suitable for audiences 18 and up.
CELEBRATE SUMMER WITH THE COOKOUT
A highlight of WIT’s upcoming line-up is the return of one of its most popular productions The Cookout: A Celebration of Black Improv in the DMV, which will feature three, 60-minute blocks of performances on Saturday, July 12 at 5PM, 7PM, and 9PM by the funniest Black improvisers in our region.
WHERE AND WHEN
All of WIT’s summer 2025 shows will take place at Studio Theatre (14th and P St NW) in their ground-floor Mead space.
