Play/Date LGBTQ+ Edition: An Improvised Speed Dating Experiment

Tired of the "resume" style of first dates? Bored with the same small talk? It’s time to trade the algorithm for some actual chemistry.

This Is Not a Show—You’re Going on a Date

Play/Date isn’t a performance where you sit in the dark and watch funny improvisers. You are the main character. This is a high-energy, interactive singles event designed to help you meet people in the most fun way possible.

Two Circuits, One Afternoon

This edition runs two concurrent events: one for people who identify as men seeking men, and one for people who identify as women seeking women. When you book, simply grab the ticket for the circuit that fits you. This event is intended for individuals aged 25(ish) to 39(ish).

We welcome all members of the LGBTQ community!

How It Works

You’ll be guided through a series of short, playful mini-dates where you can explore a slightly different version of your own life path. Think of it as a “choose your own adventure” for your romantic life. Our facilitators will keep the energy high and ensure the only thing you have to focus on is having a great time. Everyone participates at the same time, no one is put “on the spot” to perform.

You’ll also receive a free ticket to see our 6 PM show, which features our political satire “Stumped.”

Why Improv?

Improv is the ultimate wingman. It’s all about being present, listening, and saying “yes” to the moment. We use the tools of improv to strip away the awkwardness of traditional speed dating. By stepping into a lighthearted “what if” version of yourself, the pressure to be “perfect” disappears, making room for genuine laughter and sparky connections.
