Kismet + Nox! + The Hypothesis featuring Ask Me Anything with Kathy Crutcher

Need an antidote to grim headlines? WIT will give you a jolt of optimism while delivering laughs from our talented ensembles.

ABOUT WIT

WIT shows are perfect for a date night, out-of-town visitors, or simply something new and spontaneous to do. All for just $20.

For more than 25 years, our hilarious, experienced improvisers have taken a simple suggestion or story from an audience member and turned it into never-before-seen comedy. And because every performance is made-up on-the-spot, no two shows are ever the same, so you can keep coming back for more! Our homegrown talent has gone on to “SNL,” “The Daily Show,” HBO’s “Insecure” and “The White Lotus,” Hulu’s “How to Die Alone,” and more!

ABOUT ASK ME ANYTHING

From fearless advocates to visionary leaders, join us as we shine our spotlight on a series of noteworthy and inspiring individuals, who are making a difference in the DC area and beyond. Each guest will share stories and insights through a candid Q&A session. From there, a cast of improv comedians will use that material as inspiration for their performance.

Why doom-scroll when you can get out of the house (and out of your head) with a night of hope, community, and comedy?

ABOUT KATHY CRUTCHER

Crutcher founded the incredible DC-based nonprofit organization Shout Mouse Press. It’s a writing and publishing program dedicated to amplifying under-heard youth voices. From writing workshops to book publication to public speaking, Shout Mouse supports young people as they tell their own stories and act as agents of change. The young people they coach are underrepresented — as characters and as creators — within young people’s literature, and their perspectives are under-heard. By supporting them to write and publish their own books, they pass the pen… and the power. Shout Mouse authors write books responding to the urgent needs of young readers: representative, authentic stories that foster community, expand empathy, and educate a more just and inclusive next generation.

ABOUT KISMET

Can you think of a good deed someone did for you recently? Tell us about it, so we can use it as inspiration to create a fresh, comedic story for you to love and laugh at.

Cast: Adam Levine, Robin Doody, and Turner Meeks

ABOUT WIT ENSEMBLE NOX!

Nox! holds a funhouse mirror up to today’s society. The cast is a close-knit group that thrives on high-energy, memorable characters, and playing with both real and imagined worlds. They are one of the longest-running troupes in DC and their play is fueled by the mantra “get weird,” resulting in comedy that is often dark, physical, and high energy, yet patient. They aim to be the most dynamic and versatile long-form improv troupe in DC.

Cast: Jonah Gordon, John Heiser, Nina Hsu, Aaron Mosby, Eli Okun, Chris Orvin, Aubrey Peterson, Arie Rich, Bethany Stokes, Tandra T. Turner, Chris Ulrich, and Matt Winterhalter

ABOUT WIT ENSEMBLE THE HYPOTHESIS

The Hypothesis combines science and improv to both inform and delight audiences. They start each show with an audience member asking the performers a question (ex: How does memory work? Why is the sky blue? What happens in a black hole? Can you terraform Mars?), who then attempt to answer it. The team exclusively consists of scientists and science enthusiasts with diverse science backgrounds — ranging from neuroscience to ecology, from climatology to psychology, and everything in between.

Cast: Bethany Stokes, Ceci De Robertis, Goli Samimi, Henry Ring, Jordana Mishory, Nic Small, Nina Hsu, Slli’m Williams, and Tom Di Liberto
