Ask Me Anything featuring Comedian Anthony Oakes

Celebrate Pride with a joyous night of laughter at Washington Improv Theater!

Ask Me Anything is our recurring series, featuring local luminaries who inspire others through their work and ideas. There will be a 10 to 15-minute Q&A with our special guest at the start of the show followed by a fun-filled and lighthearted improv performance inspired by the conversation. The indie improv troupe Sapphic Supper will open the show.

Special Guest: Anthony Oakes

Hailing from North Carolina, Anthony now resides in DC. His “clean-esque,” yet edgy, southern, intellectual, witty humor will have you reeling with laughter. He is a 2021 recipient of DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s prestigious Mayoral Arts Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts. Taking the funny to the masses, he was in the 2023 Because They’re Funny festival in DC, the 2023 DC Comedy Festival, the 2021 Sixth City Cleveland Comedy Festival, and the 2021 Memphis Urban Laughs Festival. 

He has graced the stages of various comedy clubs and theaters, including DC Improv and The Kennedy Center, as well as The Broadway,  The Westside, and The Greenwich Village Comedy Clubs in New York, plus The Laugh Factory, Comedy Store, Flappers, and The Ice House Comedy Club in LA.
