Washington Improv TheaterMercedes is a writer and performer based in New York.
Mercedes served as a DC Arts Writing Fellow for Day Eight and Literary Apprentice for the Shakespeare Theatre Company. Additionally, she trained in criticism with the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center National Critics Institute and developed television through the PBS Ready to Learn Writer’s Program.
In 2024, she performed in the world premiere of Heather Christian’s choral-dance piece Terce: A Practical Breviary with HERE Arts Center as part of the Prototype Opera Festival. Mercedes is an ensemble lieutenant with Letter of Marque Theater Company, has performed with Characters Welcome, and was named a 2025 Diversity Scholar at both the Upright Citizens’ Brigade and Magnet Theater.
