WIT announces auditions for Feminine Experience: An Improvised Monologue Show

Washington Improv Theater will be holding auditions for Feminine Experience: An Improvised Monologue Show, previously Vagina! An Improvised Monologue Show, on January 11 and 12, 2019.

The Feminine Experience will be a powerful, improvised, true-story tribute to Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues. The cast members will celebrate, and challenge the understanding of, the feminine experience through completely improvised, true monologues. The performance will be under the direction of Kelsey Peters (Wonder Whale) and Assistant Director Krystal Ramseur (Hellcat).

This year’s production will feature two performances: Monday, February 25 and Monday, March 4. Practices will be held on Saturdays starting late January.

Sign up to audition by Friday, Dec. 28 at 11:59 PM. Directors are looking to cast voices that represent the diverse experience of being a woman. Therefore, directors strongly encourage women of color, women with diverse backgrounds, and LGBTQIA+ to audition.

This show, by design, includes some personal and vulnerable material, so players should be comfortable with that notion and should prepare to play emotionally as themselves during the audition.

Auditioners should:

  1. be women (cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence).
  2. have completed Level 4 in WIT’s curriculum or have equivalent class/performance experience.
  3. be available for the performances February 28 and March 4.
  4. be available for Saturday practices.

If you have any questions, or if you are not able to make the audition time and are still interested in auditioning, please email Kelsey Peters at kelseypeters12@gmail.com.
