Peer-to-peer fundraising for WIT’s new space: Let your love for WIT inspire others to give
Improv is all about being part of a team — saying “Yes, And!” to a shared goal and building something incredible together. It’s about having each other’s backs. WIT’s capital campaign is no different. While every individual gift brings us closer to our $4 million goal, teaming up with your friends, fellow students, or teammates can exponentially multiply your impact and help us cross the finish line strong. Like laughing, fundraising’s better (and more fun) when we do it together!
Whether you’re raising money with your classmates, teammates, or a group of friends, colleagues, or family members, peer-to-peer fundraising is a powerful way to leverage your network and turn a personal commitment into a collective movement. By rallying your circle, you’re not only raising money — you’re sharing the radical optimism and creative energy of WIT with others.
You can make a lasting difference by helping WIT create a place that boldly stands for joy, connection, and community. Your efforts will help us establish a much-needed antidote to growing anxiety and isolation, allowing DMV residents to laugh together at a time when laughing matters more than ever. Your team’s collective goal will make you eligible for fundraising incentives, including recognition on our wall of donors!
How to Create Your Fundraising Team Page
Ready to lead your own team and make a difference? It’s quick and easy to set up your dedicated team page on our platform:
1. Visit the Campaign Page: Navigate to the main Capital Campaign donation page.
2. Start a Team: Look for the option “Start a Fundraiser” on the campaign donation page (it’s under the social media buttons and above the video of Mark Chalfant’s walking tour of NoMa). Select “Start a Fundraiser” and that will take you to a new page.
3. Account Set-up: If you don’t already have a GiveLively account you will be prompted to choose a fundraising option from the following, choose “Create My Own Page” to start your own fundraising page. Create an account by entering your name, email address, and a password. The system will send you an email to verify your email address. Once you’re done creating your account, go back to the Capital Campaign Page and start the process of starting a fundraiser again.
4. Set Up Your Page Choose an ambitious fundraising goal for your team. Every dollar counts! You can also select a small personal photo for your page. And then—this is the most important step!—tell your personal story about why you’re fundraising for WIT. Why do you care about WIT? What do improv and WIT represent in your lives? Why do you believe we need our own space?
6. Share and Rally Support: Once you enter your details, select “save” and then “View page.” Share your page widely across your social media channels, email lists, and personal networks. Use the WIT talking points to inspire your donors!
You can always email dan@witdc.org for support and resources. We’ve got your back!
