Learn a whole new set of narrative improv skills while exploring the format of Joe Randazzo’s original show The Cabin Affair.
What is The Cabin Affair? It’s a powerful relationship-based drama that unfolds over the course of a year in one location. Three couples, all of whom are old friends, deal with unfolding secrets that impact them all. The show starts and ends with a New Year’s Eve party, with potentially life-altering consequences. Joe has mounted this show several times including an independent run in 2020 at DC Arts Center and this past January with Rails Comedy.
In addition to learning the intricacies of this unique format, you’ll learn transferable skills that will impact all of your improv.
- Make Strong Character Choices: When you walk out onto the stage, do you bend and flow with the scene, at the expense of your own character? Do you struggle to invent reasons to do what you want to do? Are your wants dictated by others or do you have control of your own motivations? By committing yourself to a character, you will gain control of your own character and voice!
- Level-up Your Listening: Having a deal is great, but it doesn’t work in a vacuum, you need relationships. Learn how to really listen without being in your own head about what hilarious thing you will say next. Respond honestly and without artifice.

ABOUT JOE
Joe Randazzo is a founding member of Jive Turkey, Double Date (FIST Champion), the Four Heads, and is a proud member of Sistine Robot. Joe is the Creator/Director of the dramatic improv shows “The Heist,” “The Cabin Affair,” and “Veritas.” Joe was also on WIT’s Tumbleweed, Madeline, Citizens’ Watch, and Die! Die! Die!.

Joe has been doing improv comedy for a while and studied at Upright Citizens Brigade in New York, Annoyance Theater in Chicago, and the DC Improv. Joe has performed in the Dramatic Improv Festival, Capital Fringe Festival, the Del Close Marathon, the Providence Improv Fest, the Richmond Comedy Fest, and the District Improv Festival.
