POTUS Among Us: Beyond Belief - October 4, 2024
Get Tickets Now!What’s the truth about WIT's (fictitious) presidential candidates? Come find out–and maybe spread some of your own rumors along the way.
Washington Improv Theater’s unscripted election satire POTUS Among Us: Beyond Belief celebrates its twentieth anniversary with a 2024 edition that puts audiences in control of the candidates’ identities as well as their political future. This year’s edition explores rumor and misinformation—how do we understand truth in an age of misinformation. And what role do we all play in spreading rumors?
Each performance introduces a different motley cast of candidates running to be commander-in-chief. These outlandish characters will combat (or spread) misinformation, face off in debates, and take on rumors (perhaps started by the audience themselves!). The audience will help narrow the field down to two final candidates and ultimately vote to elect a winner each night.
ABOUT THE GUEST: SHANE HARRIS is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, who has written about intelligence, security, and foreign policy for more than two decades. He’ll be joining the Atlantic as a national security and intelligence staff writer on October 11 but as of his Oct. 4 POTUS Among Us special guest appearance, he remains with The Washington Post, where he also covers intel and national security. He has previously written for the Wall Street Journal, the Daily Beast, and National Journal. He is the author of two books about the internet, surveillance, and the military and frequently appears on TV and radio. He is also a co-host of the weekly podcast “Chatter.”
