Mission Critical + Tea Time with Commonwealth + Lena Dunham Presents: Your Black Friend

Let DC’s funniest improvisers give you a break from reality with their smart, surprising, and totally unscripted comedy!

Mission Critical

Solving the world’s problems — one show at a time. With the critical help of audience members, like you, Mission Critical is doing the vital work of satirizing the nonprofit industrial complex. The diverse missions of NGOs large and small are crucial in creating the world we want to live in and the world we want to leave to our children. This show bravely asks the question: “Is this really the best way to do this?” We’ll do an analysis and circle back with a mission statement and some best practices for capacity building within the sector! The cast is made up of performers who have all worked in the nonprofit sector and know of what they speak, so you know this is going to be fun!

Cast: Adam Levine, Anna Claire Walker, Anna Nelson, Bill Nelson, Brent Buxton, Grace Campion, Hilary Joel, John Carroll, Mark Chalfant, Matt Strote, Meghan Faulkner, Mikail Faalasli, Peter Jones, and Stacey Pelika

Tea Time with Commonwealth

Autumn is time to get cozy with your favorite blanket, your best besties, and a steaming hot cup of TEA. Bring your juicy gossip and scandalous secrets, and we’ll use one lucky audience member’s tittle-tattle as inspiration for our show. You spill the tea, we’ll make you tee-hee.

Cast: Catherine Deadman, Denny Johnson, Jamie Lantinen, Jules Duffy, Kate Symes, Ryan Krull, and Stewart Walsh

Lena Dunham Presents: Your Black Friend

Created by WIT teaching artist and long-time performer Jamal Newman, Lena Dunham is the OG of all-Black improv ensembles in DC. The cast interviews a (volunteer) audience member about the most recent conversation they’ve had with a Black friend. They then draw inspiration from that discussion to create a montage of hilarious scenes that will have you laughing in the face of everything!

Cast: Krystal Ali, Darnell Eaton, Derek Hayes, Erica Johnson, Eva Lewis, Jamal Newman, Nic Small, Simone Webster, and Slli’m Williams
