(she/her)
Washington Improv TheaterKrisztina Vanyi is a Principal Data Scientist at Maxar Technologies, whose mission is to help organizations explore space, connect humanity and protect our planet and its people.
Krisztina has been working in the Government Intelligence Community sector for over 10 years. Her professional super power is the ability to ask the right questions and then answer them from analyzing relevant data. She is an advocate for workplace DIB – Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, and she was a co-founder of Maxar’s LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group – MAXPride. Krisztina is also a real estate investor and developer with interior design and remodeling skills.
Besides her daughter being born in 1997 there were not a whole lot of great things about living in the post-communist Hungary so she immigrated to the US in 2003, and returned to school while supporting herself and her daughter as a single parent.
Krisztina is a proud community college graduate of Cañada College, Redwood City CA. She finished her BA in Mathematics as a banana slug at UCSC, and received her MA in Mathematics with focus in Cryptography from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Before moving to Silver Spring, Krisztina volunteered as set designer and painter for local community theaters like The Colonial Player of Annapolis, the Victorian Lyric Opera Company, and the Rockville Little Theater. Krisztina is about to complete the WIT curriculum, and has graduated from WIT’s first ever “Intro to Stand Up” class. She plans to continue her participatory involvement by auditioning to improv teams, taking the next musical improv and additional elective classes.
Krisztina is honored to be invited to become a board member, eager to serve WIT’s mission, and grateful for the opportunity to pay it all forward.
