Kat Kunkle

Growing up a theater nerd, falling in love with improv was probably always on Kat's bingo card.

Kat Kunkle is an improviser and standup comedian based in Washington, DC. Kat graduated with a degree in Film & Television from Fordham University, and currently works in news. Being a television major in college, Kat would read books written by her role models. Two of the books she read were Tina Fey’s “Bossypants” and Amy Poehler’s “Yes Please.” Both books raved about the theater Poehler co-founded, Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB.) Since Kat was already living in New York City, she took the universe’s nudge and decided to give UCB a try in 2018. She finished the improv curriculum at UCB and took sketch comedy courses as well.

Though an improv friend, Kat was introduced to stand up, which Kat eventually built up the courage to try. Kat then moved home to the DC area, where she was happy to discover WIT. She started classes with WIT in 2021, and went on to join multiple indie teams, including The Real Winners, who she has performed with for the last two years. You can now find Kat performing improv and stand up all around the DMV or gushing over her cute Cavapoo, Lily. When she isn’t improvising, Kat loves to travel, try new recipes, and pop up to NYC to grab a slice of the Bleecker Street pizza & see a Broadway show.
