Jacksón Smith

We all know improv is life. But a beautiful life... is Total Improv.

When my friend (and now teammate on the indie troupe Your Favorite Cookie) agreed to take improv classes together in D.C., boy, oh boy, did we trip, skip, and a-slip into the rabbit hole. I also can’t go two sentences without telling you I was born and raised in Missoula, MT.

I yodel, write fiction (sci-fi, fantasy, speculative, romance), West Coast Swing, salsa, sometimes cha-cha, and transform everything into a Quest. As a kid, I combined board games to make new ones (think: the Sheep from Catan + Battleship) and never stopped—ask me about Rocky Road Royale, Snail Jockey, or Pantry Moths. The ultimate quest is Time Quest, or possibly Rhythm Quest, and sometimes Spice Quest.

I could tell you about performing with Harvey Mudd’s DUCK!, live-streaming 24 hours of non-stop improv each year; or how I learned to build cathedrals brick-by-brick at D.C. Improv, WIT, and Brent’s living room; or how I’ve baked over one hundred dozen chocolate chip cookies (and counting) in a residency at City-State Brewing; or that cardamom is the secret spice.

Instead, I’ll say: I’m a Triple Gemini, baby—yeehaw!
