Washington Improv TheaterImprov isn't therapy, but it's not *NOT* therapy.
Courtney’s therapist encouraged her to try improv… so Courtney nervously attended her very first (and what she thought would be her only) improv class at WIT in 2023. Improv was, in fact, therapeutic — Courtney loved the opportunity to be playful, to be present in the moment, and to abandon perfectionism in favor of happy accidents. It was also a great way to make fun new friends who’ve “got your back.” And those moments when you actually get a laugh from the audience are truly an amazing high! To Courtney’s surprise and delight, one class turned into the full WIT curriculum, and then a spot in the Harold program.
When she’s not doing improv or attending to her day job as an attorney, Courtney enjoys spending time at home in Takoma Park with her wife, Holly, and their fur babies Teddy (cat) and Roosevelt (puppy). She is an avid amateur pinball enthusiast who has played in various leagues around the DMV, and she dabbles in pretty much every other type of non-athletic gaming (poker, Fortnite, board games, Learned League, crosswords, DND, etc.). Courtney is also a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Chinatown. She watches way too much TV and is currently obsessed with Taskmaster.
