Abigail Kameny

When Abby was 10 years old, her parents signed her up for an improv summer camp. (She now teaches improv at that same summer camp, which makes her feel old).

She fueled her love for the craft by performing on her high school’s team, and after a hiatus in college, decided to sign up for a class in DC. In that class, she met some friends and formed an indie team with them called Intrusive Thotties. She has performed in various festivals and competitons such as FIST, the Happy Valley XL Fest, and at numerous jams at the DC Improv theater. Participating in FIST inspired Abby to join the Harold program at WIT.

Abby is from North Carolina and moved to Maryland to attend UMD almost ten years ago. She studied linguistics and Spanish for undergrad, took a gap year teaching English in Spain, then returned to UMD for her Master’s in education. She now teaches ESOL in Prince George’s County.

Outside of work and improv, Abby loves powerlifting, singing in her choir, going on walks, and reading at home accompanied by her two cats, Noodle and Meechy (Dimitri).
