WIT receives largest foundation gift in its 28-year history from Cafritz Foundation

Washington Improv Theater is delighted to announce that we have received a $150,000 grant from The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation in support of the Capital Campaign to fund our new home in NoMa!

The campaign is the most ambitious and consequential fundraising effort in our 28-year history and this grant is our largest foundation gift to date. We’re extremely grateful to The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation for their generosity.

“This level of support is a clear indication that funding institutions appreciate the importance of WIT’s mission, the quality of our work, and the impact we have on people’s lives,” says WIT’s Executive and Artistic Director Mark Chalfant.

The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation has been dedicated to building a stronger community for the residents of the greater Washington, DC area since 1948.

“Through their continued support, the Foundation has recognized the value of what WIT has to offer, as well as our need to have a space of our own in order to continue to grow and reach even more people through our artistic programing and community outreach,” says Chalfant. “We are very appreciative of their investment in our flourishing future.”
