Heighten and Justify with Jordana Mishory

Help push your scenes forward through heightening your emotionality and justifying your POV

You started the scene and clearly established your deal and dynamic, but the scene still feels hard. What happens next you ask? The answer is of course heightening and justifying!

Come learn easy tools and techniques on how to push your scenes forward by leaning into what you have already created, heightening the scene emotionally, and turning up the volume on HOW you are acting. This class will also work on deepening and grounding your foolish perspective and game through justification.

These skills will open the door to making your scenes more playful and following the fun you created.

This class is right for you if:

  • You feel stuck in scenes, and want to understand how to easily and successfully push your scenes forward
  • You get overwhelmed by choices in scenes, and want to practice committing to your character deals and more intentionally playing with your choices
  • You want to strengthen your emotional choices and work on better showcasing your characters’ feelings
  • You don’t mind a teacher good-naturedly and repeatedly yelling the word “MOAR” at you
  • You want to figure out how to ground your foolish characters or discern the reasons why your character is acting the way they are

This class will also start with a review of how to find and play game.

Participants should be prepared to work hard (while still having fun!) and have a desire for targeted feedback.

This class will last for four weeks, and will not have a showcase.

ABOUT JORDANA
During the day, Jordana works as WIT’s operations manager. At night, Jordana teaches advanced classes at WIT and performs with Ensembles Uncle Gorgeous and The Hypothesis, and indie teams Galbraith & Mishory and I Wrote That.

Jordana was a cast member in Your Town; The Heist, an improvised drama about a bank robbery gone wrong; and WIT’s POTUS Among Us 2016. She previously played with long-time indie stalwarts Cake Bagel, Jos. A. Banksy, and WIT Ensemble Love Onion, and directed Hellcat.

She has performed at festivals across the country including the Del Close Marathon and the Chicago Improv Festival — as well as at The Kennedy Center’s Page to Stage New Play Festival. Jordana completed the curricula at WIT and World’s Greatest Improv School, training extensively with Will Hines and Alex Berg. She has also trained at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York. She has spent enough money on workshops over the years to presumably purchase her own private island. (She assumes, having no idea how much private islands cost).

Jordana is a strong advocate of side-coaching with an intense focus on believable emotions and strong deals. She is a stronger advocate of having the most fun you’ve ever had in your entire life while on stage. She spends most of her time in scenes trying not to giggle at her hilarious troupemates.
