Tenure Track with Captain PhD: Liam Daley
WIT Virtual Shows - February 27, 2021
DC-based improv team Captain PhD reunites online to create an improvised comedy show based on an interview with a graduate student.
This week’s guest: Liam Daley
Liam Thomas Daley is a PhD Candidate in English at the University of Maryland, College Park, focusing on Medieval and Renaissance literature. His work looks at where writers and readers draw the line between historical fact and literary fiction – and why that line changes from the Middle Ages into the Renaissance. Specializing mainly in Shakespeare’s English history plays, his broader research and teaching interests include Arthurian literature, Chaucer, early modern stage craft, and book history. Pre-quarantine archival research included work at the Folger Shakespeare Library (Washington, DC), and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust (Stratford-upon-Avon, UK). Fun fact: he’s also done some dramaturgy for Brave Spirits Theatre Company (RIP).
