Anyone and everyone stands something to gain by taking a class with Washington Improv Theater. Go ahead, take the plunge.

More testimonials: See how improv can help you at work and bring out your creativity.

A student raves: “Two and a half hours of laughter! You learn how to get silly with strangers and to grow strong ties of trust based around utter absurdity. No pressure, no mistakes, only happy accidents.”

COVID Safety

As of November 16, 2023, WIT will no longer require proof of vaccination plus booster shot to be uploaded at time of registration in order to participate in classes. WIT will require students to acknowledge that they have been fully vaccinated (a completed initial series plus booster shot) at time of registration, but proof will no longer be verified by WIT staff.

WIT strongly encourages students and teachers to be up-to-date with Covid-19 vaccinations in an aim to keep all members of our community safe and healthy.

Improv for all: no matter who you are, you’ve got something to gain from taking Foundations of Improv.

Meet people, gain poise, build your confidence and explore your creativity by learning the fundamental concepts of improvisation. It’s the most fun you’ll have all week.

When registering for classes, make sure it fits with your schedule. It’s okay if you miss a class but not more than two. The showcase is also not required but trust us, you will be having so much fun you won’t want to miss any of it!

We also have an inclusion scholarship program!

Class locations

WIT holds classes at Universalist National Memorial Church (1810 16th St NW), Latin American Youth Center (1419 Columbia Rd NW), and Sitar Arts Center (1700 Kalorama Rd NW). We fully expect classes programming to continue at these locations. If you register for a class without a specified location but cannot reach it when it is assigned, WIT can transfer you to another section (as available).
