Advanced Format: The Dusty – with Jamal Newman
Play faster, more confidently, and have more fun with this tag-outs only format.
Do you want to play faster? Do you want to identify game more consistently? Do you want to get out of your own head to allow confident scene work to emerge? Then this class is for you.
This format is geared towards high energy scenes that literally follow the fun as you’re not allowed a sweep edit into a new scene. Students taking this elective course will learn the importance of making purposeful tag outs that serve to push the show forward, heightening outwardly and not just upwardly, making fast paced and clearly defined scene initiations, and a deeper focus on game and pattern work.
Jamal has studied at the Washington Improv Theater and the DC Improv. He performs improv, sketch, stand up, and acts. Jamal Newman is a member of indie teams NIXON, Lena Dunham, and FIST finalist The Prosecution who used the Dusty as their format.
