Amy Purcell

Amy Purcell tiptoed onstage as a curious audience "volunteer" at her law firm retreat's improv show but left the stage euphoric. After laughing until her face hurt at a friend's improv class show a few months later, she decided she just couldn’t miss out on the fun any longer.

Amy trained with Washington Improv Theater, Second City, and Go Comedy.  She currently performs with indie trio Gator Ray, LIT’s Hot & Sweaty, and Comedy Sportz DC.  She previously played with Soft Friction, Jet Ski Wedding, Just Moxie, and Bait & Itch.  She helps with District Improv’s Improv Sandbox and LIT’s Sunday Funday, and serves as volunteer coordinator for the District Improv Festival.

She loves anything that makes her feel like a little kid, including theme parties (pirates! 80s! rich and fab!), food adventures, and coloring books.

Student Feedback

“Amy was a very positive leader for our class.  She had so much energy and it was so contagious…She did a great job stopping us briefly, especially in very small, informal scenes like 3 line duologues… I really like that immediate feedback.”

“Amy is one of my most favorite people on earth. I’m grateful to have her as a level one as she was very encouraging and upbeat.”
